Animal Connections

Dear Artists,

Every now and again I meet people who have a special connection to a fur person. This connection always inspires me because I too have my own. And when I hear of one of these inter-species friendships, I have a desperate need to capture it in a way that suits me or the person. 

I dare you to capture your pet and try to recreate them in an artistic expression. 

Portraits are always fun whatever your choice of artistic medium.

Example 1)

Sometimes I will hang out with the pet to see if I can catch a moment with my camera that sums up their personality. I will make a game of doing a photo-shoot to come up with a glamour shot of said animal.

I sometimes write a little children’s story, maybe a poem, maybe a sketch or a great black and white photo blurred around the edges. 

Example 3) 

If you are drawn to film, try making a documentary complete with a voice-over in the style of David Attenborough, a gossip journalist or maybe Levar Burton telling a story.

Whatever your choice of medium, try expressing the personality of a fur person and you just might form a deeper connection to our animal counterparts with better understanding, appreciation and communication.
